Learning Outcomes Achieved
- Design, develop and evaluate management systems to produce solutions that handle constraints and uncertainty
- Systematically develop and implement the skills required to be effective member of a development team in a virtual professional environment, adopting real-life perspectives on roles and team organisation
Seminar Session
This week, a final seminar session was held regarding future trends in the field of software engineering project management. I wasn’t able to make it due to work commitments, however, I collaborated with my team on creating a slideshow presentation arguing why AIOps will become influential in time to come- I wrote the slide which explains what AIOps is.
By completing this activity and reading through my team’s sources on AIOps and its benefits, I achieved learning outcome 3, because I learned about the value that AIOps can provide from a management perspective- it has the potential to reduce incident response times to a degree that existing solutions aren’t able to.
Reflection
The module has come to an end, and I would say that I enjoyed it overall. What I would like to do next is go beyond conventional Agile methods and instead look to understand how businesses derive value, and the consequences of that- for instance, if a business follows the OKR philosophy (Google, n.d.), it derives value not from sprint points, but rather, reaching key results. In such a scenario, how does one fit in bugfixes and engineering excellence? I hope to find answers to these questions soon.
