Summary Post

This week, students were required to summarise the content of their inital discussion post, along with feedback from peers. A key part of my summary was briefly discussing criticisms of ethics codes. By completing this activity, I achieved learning outcome 1, because at the end of the forum discussion, I learned how to critically analyse the concept of ethical codes in computing; not just how to apply them.

ePortfolio Activity: Research Proposal Review

As an ePortfolio exercise, two questions were posed to students:

Which of the methods described in this week’s reading would you think would suit your purpose? and Which data collection methods would you consider using?

I’ve attached my answers to these questions in the “Artefacts” section. By answering these questions, I have achieved learning outcome 3, because I used the unit content to critically analyse research methods and thereby create a design for my dissertation.

Seminar 2 Preparation

I wasn’t able to make it to the seminar due to scheduling, but I have created a set of slides which answer the given questions. I have attached it to this page.

By completing this activity, I achieved learning outcome 3, because I evaluated different research methods on a specific topic and how well they were applied. Beyond the evaluation, I also uncovered limitations where appropriate and learned how to critically evaluate a paper. I will use this improved understanding of research methods to improve my research proposal when I start working on it.
